Many people give affiliate marketing terrible press, and it doesn’t surprise how some affiliate marketers treat it. In this post, I would like to go through affiliate marketing for beginners and show how you can use soft sell for massive results.
Is Affiliate Marketing Easy
It certainly can be if done correctly. After all, you have no products to carry no aftersales, so in fact, all you need to do is spread the word by recommending an item and showing your link.
Now that is certainly not to say go out and start spamming. There are so many better ways to do this that will bring you tremendous results, aren’t sleazy in any way and will help people while you make money.
The soft pitch pipeline is far removed from what you might see on Facebook. Affiliate marketers know that they can make money from a link and spam people in their inboxes and various groups. Which means all of a sudden, they are surprised when they don’t make any sales.
Not only will you not make sales by spamming groups, but you will also be blacklisted from many affiliate networks. You will also make the vendor’s product look bad.
How Do you start Affiliate Marketing The Right Way?
By using the soft pitch pipeline, you are staying safe from and bans, as well as building your business as you go. With the most critical asset. Trust. Which is hugely important when using affiliate marketing for beginners 2021.
Affiliate marketing has changed quite a lot, even in the past year. With the pandemic, so many people have started to do affiliate marketing, vendors can now begin to pick and choose who they would like to partner with. And spamming seems to be at an all-time high. Since I have woken up in my Facebook messenger, I have had five messages trying to get me into bitcoin.
There seem to be people getting far too excited about affiliate marketing and jump in way to quickly without first looking into the various ways to profit. Instead, the only success they find is pissing people off about both them and the product. They jump to fast and promote things that won’t help their audience or make them any money.
The Soft Affiliate Pitch
This methodology was first brought to my attention by Pat Flynn. And it all boils down to promoting a product that makes sense to you and helps your audience achieve the goals they have set for themselves.
So let’s jump right in.
With a soft pitch pipeline in place, you can begin to tee up the products you are promoting to your audience. This makes it extremely easy for them to understand precisely how the product can help them. And your product makes it easy for them to score a home run, which is good for them and you. As it means you will be earning a commission.
It’s a win for your audience because they’re finding these products very quickly. They are helpful. It’s also winning for the product owner because they’re making Commission’s building that relationship with them. So everybody’s happy.
Now a lot of people, when they get into affiliate marketing, they don’t know what they are doing. The strange thing is Affiliate marketing is simple to do.
The relationship of trust you build with your audience is the most important thing out there. The moment you promote something that doesn’t help them or promote for the wrong reasons. is the very moment you lose that person, possibly forever.
Why Do Affiliate Marketers Fail
The reason most affiliate marketers fail is simple. They get traffic to their website. Without spending any time building a relationship, they pitch whatever product they are promoting. And that never feels good. nobody wants to feel like a wage slip
It makes their website visitor wonder who they are and what are they doing.
You wouldn’t ask somebody for their hand in marriage the first time you meet them.
Pat Flynn uses a term for this called pitch slap. And nobody should be pitch slapping their traffic.
Affiliate Marketing Made Simple Step By Step
Okay, so no pitch slapping allowed. Instead, we will go in a much better way.
- Build a relationship
- Select the right products
- Share your own and other peoples experiences
- Show proof that the product will help your audience
Now, if you have focused on the steps above, what you will find is step five, the pitch, works out hard to be a pitch at all.
So let’s go through a little more detail to make sure that we have it right.
Hopefully, you can understand how important trust is with your audience, but how do you start building a relationship with your audience.
The most important thing for you to understand is what they are going through. You can’t help anybody without knowing what it is that they are experiencing.
But it is no good just paying lip service to this. Treat your audience as a friend. If you had a friend who was going through problems, then hopefully, you wouldn’t just offer a solution.
You want to find out more about what is troubling your friend. This will help you understand your audience, what they are going through, their pain points, what problems they are facing, what they need and want.
The number one way of doing all of this. Have conversations with your audience. Phone calls or skype are perfect when you are just starting. You can listen to their words and how they are saying them. You can see their body language.
Yes, you are only talking to one person at a time, but use it as market research. Once you understand that person, you will realize a lot more about your audience as a whole.
You want to find out your audience’s habits, their objex#ctions on moving forward, and what excuses they use. Both to themselves and you.
This will help you understand your whole audience and know which products you can recommend to them.
Select The Right Products
This is one of the biggest downfalls of affiliates. They don’t recommend products that will help. They recommend products based on their commissions.
There are so many products out there that could help your audience no matter their problems. The most important thing is that they are helpful, and they fit the goals of your audience.
Now here is a radical thought for you. Don’t worry if you can’t make money on the product. If it a product that can help your audience, then recommend it.
It doesn’t matter if it’s your product, a competitors product, an affiliate product, or anything else. If it would help your audience, then recommend it. Once you have helped your audience, you build the relationship, and that means next time they are stuck with something, and of course, you have them on your email list. Who do you think they will come back too.
How do you choose a product? The easiest way is to promote something you have experience with. If you already have experience with a product, you know that you can trust it to help your audience.
If you are using a product you have experience with, then it also means you can share your experience. This makes people want the product more, as they have seen you test it, talk about it.
People love to see what they’re going to get before they get it, and if they see you and the results that you’ve got, it’s going to work out much better for you.
That’s why I do a lot of videos. I do many walkthroughs with different products that I have and show people what it’s like on the inside and want to be honest with them.
It is sporadic that I do an entirely positive review. How many things have you come across that you can honestly say there is not one single problem with? I’m guessing almost non. Don’t worry about pointing out the negatives. It helps again in your trust.
This is how you will quickly become their trusted adviser. It makes it much easier for them to purchase it when you are providing real value.
Showing proof is vast if you have ever seen the documentary Fat Sick And Nearly Dead. In this documentary, the guy is overweight, as well as mentally and physically failing pretty badly. And he decided that his diet was to blame, so he went on a juicing diet for 90 days.
If you have never seen the movie, it is well worth a watch, as the proof is shown right there on the screen, the weight is falling off him, his skin is clear, and his mind is sharp.
This particular movie I recommended to my girlfriend, my parents and some guys at my tattoo shop. Can you guess what happened?
Juice machines everywhere. Because they had literally seen this transformation before their eyes, they couldn’t go and buy these juicers fast enough. I’m pretty sure that where ever I went for the next few weeks, all had a juicer and had all seen the movie. I’m not sure how much this guy got paid for the film, but I think the juice machine manufacturers owe him some money.
You can’t just tell somebody that something is good. You have to show them proof. Right now me telling you about the movie. You are possibly slightly more interested in getting a juicer. But suppose I was to send you a link to the film through my Amazon link, having already built up a relationship. In that case, there is a massive chance that you would buy a juicer straight after the film.
By telling you about the movie, I have shared my experience with it, given social proof, hadn’t pressured you at all to go and watch the film.
Now think for one moment, if I had just spammed you a link, check this juicer out. It is great at making apple juice. Doesn’t have the same appeal.
The more tangible your proof is, the better.
If you show something to your audience and are a little on the fence when you show them proof, it will (nine times out of ten) give that little push that they need.
Now I am sure if you have read through all of that, you can already see a pitch, which isn’t going to be a pitch. With the juicer movie, all I would have needed to do is send you over to amazon.
But there are some things you can do to maximize the number of people who click on your affiliate links. Then progress into the sale, which will earn you the Commission.
Let people know that you . Now, this is not only good practice but also keeps you in line with the FDA regulations. However, that is not the reason that should want to do it.
If you provide value to your audience, they will want to pay you back, and by including your affiliate link, they can do just that. If you say, hey, if you go through this link, I do get a commission at no extra cost. They’re going to be likely to want to do that.
There were so many times when I first started and would listen to somebody giving great advice but not mentioning their affiliate link.
Another great thing to do is offer support. There are so many affiliates that don’t do this. Treat the product as if it were your own. If you can support somebody when they get the product you recommended, it looks so much better for you. And puts you in the lead position to buy from in the future.
