Welcome to my Get Response Review, Here I will be going over all of getresponses pros and cons and have included a table of contents to quickly find the parts that interest you. Please enjoy, I would love to hear any comments you might have.
What is Getresponse?
Getresponse is primarily an email marketing app that will allow you to do email marketing and so much more.
A few of the Getresponse features are
- send emails to the subscribers on your mailing list
- create a mailing list and capture data onto it
- automate your emails to subscribers via the use of ‘autoresponders.’
- view and analyze statistics related to your email campaigns – open rate, click-through, forwards etc.
Recently Getresponse has begun to shift their focus a little, and have now started building a lot more robust platform that incorporates a more of an all in one solution. Based on e-commerce and marketing.
This is a good thing for the consumer as it gives a lot more than just strictly email marketing, and instead gives a well-rounded approach and in theory, can begin to cut down on your spend.
Getresponse is now very proudly, in addition to email marketing. Now provides a whole host of eCommerce, webinar hosting, landing pages, and automated funnels.
With these new introductions, getresponse is firmly trying to set itself up as an all in one solution.
Who Are Getresponse
The good news is that Getresponse has been in business since 1998 and isn’t a fly by night company and with 350,000 individuals and companies using their app, is somebody you can trust with your marketing efforts.
While 350,000 doesn’t sound too big when compared with some other providers, such as Mailchimp. It is a significant enough number to give you confidence in the company.
GetResponse Review 2021
When I first started email marketing a few years back, I had many hours of wasted time trying to find the right email marketing tool for me, and a whole lot of time trying to learn them.
Each day seemed to be filled with frustration as more and more email autoresponders let me down or were so complicated that learning them became almost a full-time job.
It was a few years since I first got introduced to Getresponse, which I tested very thoroughly then, and with all of the new introductions. With Getresponse making so many changes to their software, it only seems right to do a recent review for 2021.
Get Response Features
Getresponse that done a great job of being feature-rich and keeping ease of use is very difficult, and few autoresponders seem to manage.
Getresponse claims that they have the easiest newsletter tool available, with a whole load of built-in features that are indeed a big claim. And with such a competitive pricing structure, that Getresponse has in place, it is quite some boast.
When you consider that Getresponse reach is over 182 countries and engage 1 billion subscribers per month, it looks like that boast could be well placed as reviewing all of the getresponses feedback does give a rather glowing report.
Getresponse uses a simple drag and drop feature within their newsletters, which is extremely user friendly and allows for a wide range of email tasks on the fly.
Out of all of the tools that Getresponse has this is one of my favourites and something I often use for time-sensitive affiliate marketing and launches.
Kudos goes out to Getresponce for adding in an undo/redo button.
Bonus points for including undo/redo buttons and revision history. Our main gripe is the lack of a central style editor. It would be handy to set fonts and colours for the entire newsletter.
Personalization is fast and straightforward, using the data from the input the user left. If this information isn’t there, you can set fallbacks, although this does require slight coding, it is easy to find.
Ease of Use
I have always found Getresponse one of the easiest of autoresponders to use, with an excellent design that’ll walk you step by step through the process until you get used to it.
A quick actions section shows the most commonly used tasks not to have to go hunting for them. You can also customize your dashboard with the widgets you use most widely, again saving you time trying to find things.
If I did have to find a fault, it would make navigation out of the email editor a little easier.
Plenty to choose from, Autoresponders, Newsletters, RSS to a newsletter, easy split testing, and surveys are all provided.
Not something I use; however, the designs are responsive, easy to edit. I found it challenging to add columns, but that is possibly down to me not using templates often.
Email automation is a breeze and very simple to do meaning you can get your marketing out in record time. If you use simple automation, you can also build complex automation. But you would need the pro plan to do this.
As well as being able to send your sequence of emails, based on triggers and conditions, you can also move subscribers from one list to another. There is also built-in automation for lead scoring, web event tracking, and cart abandonment.
. Automations for lead scoring abandoned cart campaigns, and web event tracking is also available.
Is a high priority, and again getresponse does this beautifully, creating rules for deleting and blacklisting your contacts.
You can use custom filters to save segments of contacts with similar characteristics (e.g. based on contact field data, email engagement, or lead scores). Through automation, you can add tags, and even automate list management rules. There’s also a section dedicated to listing hygiene, allowing you to create rules for deleting and blacklisting contacts.
Registration Forms/ Opt-in & Opt-out
Easy to use, with a stack of templates, or you can create your own. A wide range of integrations are available, or even hosting on Getresponse.
However, editing thankyou pages can seem a little hidden.
I have yet to find any problems with my deliverability within Getresponse.
Reports and Analysis
A good range of reports is in place, making it easy to see what your subscribers are doing.
The obvious ones are all there with open rates etc., and presented in a chart view. You can also integrate google analytics and track your conversions.
Yahoo Outlook Etc authorizes Getresponse with both SPF and DKIM supported
Sadly assigning your domain is only available on the enterprise plan
There is an excellent selection of integrations available for Getresponse pretty much across the board and no matter which niche.
Getreponse used to have the industry-leading support with phone support that is now unavailable unless you are on the Enterprise or max plan.
However, there is still good support 24/7 chat support and email; it’s a shame that they got rid of their phone support as it was an excellent service.
Your Getresponse workflow is the collection of the different conditions, actions and filters. Getresponse has done an excellent job of putting these all together, and workflow gives you a clear picture of your communications.
These can be made as straightforward or as complex as you would like, with a simple, easy interface.
Newer Tools Of Getresponse
As stated, getresponse seems to be working hard to make a complete rounded digital marketing platform, so I would like to go through some of the getresponse new additions.
Get Response Webinar Review
With the recent addition of getresponse webinar, you are now able to host webinars on getresponses platform. If you are a big-ticket seller or like your audience’s personal touch, this is a gamechanger for an email marketing software.
Because webinars are mainly used for lead gen or increasing revenue, adding a webinar feature is a fantastic addition to your email marketing app.
The pricing for your webinar feature s also pretty good compared to the more prominent players in the market.
Gotowebinar charges $50 per month to host webinars of up to 100 people. You can do the same and more with Getresponse and save yourself $10 per month.
There are, of course, different levels of plans which each Limits. Concerning attendee limits, the Getresponse ‘Plus’ plan allows up to 100 participants; the ‘Professional’ plan’s cap is 300, and the ‘Enterprise’ plan’s cap is 500.
However, you can buy webinars as an add-on for your basic plan if you want to get a feel for it without the commitment. A $40 payment per month will give you 100 attendees, and $99 per month will get you 500.
Strangely getresponse say that if you live in North America, you may not be able to get these add ons if you look at upgrading your account.
When I reviewed the getresponse webinar feature, I have to say I was impressed with the functionality and interface are excellent. And they do surpass a lot of the dedicated platforms out there.
Some of the features I particularly loved where:
- attendees don’t need to install any software to attend the webinars
- one-click record
- screen sharing
- video sharing (YouTube)
- upload Powerpoint presentations to Getresponse for use during a webinar
- free online storage for playback
I love that fact that getresponse have brought out a webinar feature as I believe it gives them the edge over many other autoresponders.
The fact that your email list is fully integrated with your webinar broadcasting tool is a very welcome addition.
Getresponse Landing Page Review
Another new feature is the Getresponse is the landing page, this addition makes Getresponse a great email marketing tool and now starts it on the path to becoming a little more like a funnel builder. an, of course, this feature fits in with…
Getresponse Autofunnel Review
When using these features you have suddenly gained a way of making a quite inexpensive digital marketing or eCommerce business.
The idea behind this is you can now easily do things like
- Create a product catalogue
- Create and run Facebook ad campaigns
- Create landing pages
- Add subscribers to an autoresponder cycle
- Drive users to sales pages (also created in Getresponse)
- Take payment for products
- Send abandoned cart emails if necessary
This finally give you the chance to make a great sales funnel for your business (the only other viable option that doesn’t cost a fortune is Groove)
This feature is accessable in all getresponse plans, but in the basic version you are only allowed to create one funnel, and you cant use the abondoned cart feature.
You can however add third party apps such as groove and groovekart which will more tan take care of this.
As it is this is the perfect solution for solopreneurs but for larger operations I would recommend getting the full groove suite with its one-time payment (currently at the time of writing).
Getresponce Pros And Cons
- If you are happy with the basic plan getresponse is cheaper than many of its rivals, the only one likely to beat it on price is moosend, which doesn’t have the feature-rich list of getresponse.
- You can make great savings by paying upfront, for 1 or 2 years.
- The marketing automation functionality is excellent.
- It offers a unique approach to data segmentation — that works much better than many competing products, especially Mailchimp.
- Getresponse’s webinar functionality is a genuine USP.
- Its ‘Conversion Funnel’ feature useful for people who want to manage all aspects of their sales funnels and e-commerce activity under one roof.
- Its reporting features are extensive.
- Getresponse is very transparent about their delivery rates.
- All Getresponse plans come with landing page creator.
- Custom DKIM is provided on all plans.
- Support in a wide variety of languages.
- You can try out all the Getresponse features free for 30 days No credit card needed
- Improvements on data capture forms for mobile
- There’s no 2-factor authentication at login.
- There’s a hard limit of 500 webinar attendees.
- No phone support is provided (unless you’re on a “Max” plan).
Getresponse Free Plan / Is Getresponse Free
Getresponse doesn’t offer a free plan but gives a very generous 30 trail, which will let you try out all of the getresponse features.
When joining getreponce you are give four plans which you can choose from.
- Basic — starting at $15 per month to send an unlimited number of emails to up to 1,000 subscribers
- Plus — starting at $49 per month for up to 1,000 subscribers
- Professional — starting at $99 per month for up to 1,000 subscribers
- Max — negotiable.
Obviously the more subscrbers you have then the hgher the prices, if for examle you had a list of 100,000 you would ecpect to pay $450, $499 or $580 per month.
Groovemail, if you buy the full Groove suite gives you 25,000 subscribers for free, at the time of wrting
The max plan doesnt have an exact pricing structure and depends upon the requirements that you are needing, this can be disscussed with the Getresponce team, who will schedule a demo, and go through pricing
As said before there are some excellent discounts to be had if you want to pay a year or two in advance and if you have the money at hand this is recommended, as it really is a good saving. Of between 18% and 30%
Differences Between Getresponse Plans
Everyplan that Getresponse has will cover your email marketing, with every plan coming in with the same core features such as:
- import, grow and host a subscriber list
- themes to use for your e-newsletters
- autoresponder functionality
- email designs
- split testing
- landing pages
- RSS / blog to-email functionality
- segmentation options
- social sharing tools
There are some differences between their basic and their plus account, some of the key ones being
- Automation builder — one of Getresponse’s standout feature, the automation builder
- Conversion funnels — you get more automated sales funnels as you go up the pricing ladder.
- Webinars — this functionality is not available at all on the ‘Basic’ plan and the number of webinar attendees is capped for the ‘Plus’, ‘Professional’ and ‘Enterprise’ plans at 100, 300 and 500 respectively.
- Team management — you can only have one user account on the ‘Basic’ plan; you get 3 on ‘Plus’, 5 on ‘Professional’ and 10 on ‘Enterprise.’
- E-commerce – the abandoned order recovery feature is only available on the ‘Plus’ plan or higher.
How does Getresponse pricing compare to that of its competitors?
If you are happy with the basic plan then the price per month with getresponse is excellent, and on a whole cheaper than what you can find elsewhere, added to that the more you grow the more you will notice the cheaper get responce pricing.
At the base plan and 1,000 subscribers, it would be $15pm compared to $29 pm on Aweber and Campaign Monitor.
Mailchimp and Moosend are cheaper on this level, with Moosend being the best of both, but niether can compare with Getresponses features
If you have a contact list containing between 9,000 and 10,000 records, hosting it on the ‘Basic’ Getresponse plan costs $65 per month.
This works out:
- $4 per month cheaper than Aweber
- $24 per month cheaper than Campaign Monitor
- $34 per month cheaper than Mailchimp (Standard Plan)
Mailsend will charge you to host both subscribed and unsubscribed contacts which can see your prices add up very quickly.
The bottom line is that Getresponse stacks up well against competitors in the pricing department.
My Final Conclusion on Getresponce
I personally use Getresponse and have done for a number of years, and I am happy with my purchase of it, personally I only use the basic plan as I have my sales funnels etc with Groove.
I would 100% recommend that you give it a try, as with the combination of features and ease of use make Getresponse one of the best.
I Recommend Getresponce For
This is a short list of who I know have had great success with getresponse and I believe it will be a great addition to many more businesses out there
Small Businesses Looking To Grow
Get response is a great solution that really is built for your inbound marketing.
You can easily drive traffic, convert, nurture and sell to them all with one piece of software
At this price range for features nothing compares. If you need the features.
Getresponse For ecommerce
You cant help but notice that Getresponse has really taken the ecommerce store owners needs into consideration, producing an excellent tool, that with intergrate with Magento and Shopify to cart abandonment emails, dynamic, personalized content, sales integrations, and granular customer tracking/tagging. You could even intergrate with what I believe is the best ecommerce platform out there with groovecart, but you would possibly need a little more fiddling
The sheer amount of tools that you have at hand with Getresponce is awesome, and if you are already planning which yacht you’re going to be buying Getresponce has almost all of the tools you will need to get there, or at least your deposit.
I DO NOT recommend GetResponse for
The amount of features that Getresponce has insn’t needed for blogging, even thebasic plan you are spending more than you need to, and you would be better off with moosend, starting on the FREE plan and then moving up as you grown
You Are Going All In With Digital Marketing Or Large Company
This is a little of the opposite as before, as you could go out and get Groove which would have everything that you would need all at a lifetime price.
If you are looking for a good basic autoresponder for your marketing Moosend is hard to beat, with its free plan and price dependant on the number of subscribers.
Unlimyed emails from $8 per month if you upgrade
Dicount of 14% if paide annually, aswell as discounts for studentsand non profit orginisations
Again offering a free plan but of 500
The pricing for Groovemail is included in the full suite of groove which is the best pro choice I have found for everything digital marketing
